Introduction

My name is Gaby Beckley and this blog is for my A2 Media coursework. Our task is to produce a promotion package for an album, which will include a music video as the main task, a digipak for the album's release, and a magazine advert for the digipak. I am very excited about this task as I have always wanted to make a music video, and I tend to be very picky about music videos, as I find many quite boring or overly stereotypical and sexualised. Unfortunately most of the ideas I have are probably far too ambitious and expensive, but I am still very excited for this creative project. I have already started watching more music videos in my spare time and also watching them more closely. I will be discovering how important music videos are for promotion, and learning about magazine adverts and digipaks for albums. Over the next week this will probably include some research into groundbreaking and viral music videos, and music videos of different budget levels, as well as hearing more from my teachers about the function and importance of music videos for promoting artists. Overall I'm very excited to get going with this project!
